DRAFT REPORT ON THE 3RD SOUTHERN AFRICAN REGIONAL CONFERENCE ON QUALITY ASSURANCE IN HIGHER EDUCATION

The Southern African Quality Assurance Network (SAQAN) is a voluntary membershipbased organisation that brings together quality assurance bodies and higher education institutions from southern Africa with a view to promote quality in higher education; foster harmonisation of quality assurance systems in the region; and facilitate the international recognition of higher education qualifications from southern Africa in order to enhance mobility of staff and students. The Council on Higher Education (CHE) is one of the founder members of SAQAN.

One of the main programmes of SAQAN is the annual conference, the first of which was held in Zimbabwe in 2014, and the second in Botswana in 2015. The CHE had the honour to host the third annual conference from 19 to 20 October 2016 at the CSIR International Convention Centre in Pretoria.
