Dr. Sylvia Amanda Demas is the President of the Southern African Quality Assurance Network (SAQAN). She holds a Doctor of Business Administration from the University of Namibia, a Master of Arts in Demography from the Australian National University, and several other advanced qualifications in management, quality assurance, and monitoring and evaluation.

With over two decades of experience in public policy, development planning, and higher education, Dr. Demas has served in various senior leadership roles, including Director of Development Planning and Deputy Director of Multilateral Cooperation at Namibia’s National Planning Commission, as well as Senior Researcher at the Namibia Institute of Public Administration and Management (NIPAM).

Her academic and professional journey reflects a strong commitment to advancing quality assurance, institutional development, and strategic planning in higher education across the Southern African region.
